This War of Mine is a very tough and very thematic survival board game. You play as civilians trying to live and hide in a city during a war. Using resources to upgrade your shelter and try to get by. The theme is very strong with lots of narrative bits that help set the scene as you play. The theme is so well integrated it can actually be a bit too depressing for some folks to play. But the mechanics are solid and the gameplay is very fun. During the night you will try to sneak out with some of your characters to go collect more resources. Sometimes you have to make some tough (emotionally and mechanically) decisions in the game. Maybe a person knocks on your door needing somewhere to stay. If you let them in, its risky as you don’t have much food. But maybe they can help?
